AZ Fusion Volleyball was created by three individuals with over 25 years of experience in coaching youth sports. We created this team with a strong emphasis on our core philosophy: Fun, Family, Friendships and Fundamentals.
Chris Weedon – Director/Head Coach
Chris has over 15 years of experience coaching youth sports. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach for four different NYS Elite volleyball teams, one of which won back-to-back NYS season championships. He has coached his son in basketball, baseball, and flag football for 12 years and has also led Junior High School teams in flag football, boys’ softball, and boys’ basketball. Additionally, Chris has coached his two daughters in soccer, t-ball, basketball, and volleyball.
Throughout his coaching career, Chris has been involved in several youth sports organizations and earned Coach of the Year honors in 2015. He is known for his enthusiastic and supportive coaching style, often encouraging kids with high fives, fist bumps, and the occasional funny cartoon character voice. His practices are designed to be both fun and effective, with a strong emphasis on teaching the fundamentals of the game and instilling a passion for sports.
Chris takes great pride in fostering a positive team atmosphere where players can learn and grow. He believes in the value of hard work, practice, and a positive attitude to achieve success. He expects his players to be coachable, maintain a positive attitude, and always give 100% effort during practice and games.

Deb Weedon – Assistant Director
With over 20 years in marketing and events, I’ve enjoyed creating memorable experiences and telling engaging stories. At home, my heart is in family life—especially as a mom of three active children. For years, I’ve been assisting with coordination of their sports with my husband, and it’s been a joy to see them, and their friends grow and have fun on the court.
Beyond that, I’ve also been a Level 2 volunteer with Peoria Unified School District, attending countless field trips with my children and their friends. Balancing my career with these hands-on family experiences has been incredibly rewarding, and I cherish every moment of it! I am a Volleyball Mom for Life!

Mike Kozimor – Assistant Coach
I’ve been involved in youth sports for about 4 years. I started off working independently with my daughter Addison while she played for Coach Chris in the City of Peoria leagues for basketball and volleyball. I started to get more involved as the years went on, first with scoring and broadcasting games on Gamechanger. Last season, I was invited by Chris to be an assistant coach on a 12u NYS Elite Volleyball team. It was the beginning of a great partnership and mentorship for me. Our team won the 12u championship and later participated in the AAU Stars and Stripes tournament in the 12u bracket.
Chris and I share the same philosophy when it comes to coaching. We are here to serve our community and to be positive role models for our team and our league.
